When the second generation took over in 1997, brothers Michael, Robert, and Thomas Armstrong expanded the company’s services while keeping true to their father’s vision. Today, 90 percent of Armstrong’s work still includes commercial paving, grading, and site utilities, but the brothers have expanded the company to include environmentally friendly services like material crushing and recycling as well.

Our approach to site development differs from that of our competitors. Our goal is to prevent as much site debris as possible from filling our South Carolina landfills. To that end, we operate a Powerscreen Premiertrack R400 at our Columbia, South Carolina headquarters. This enables us to crush site debris including concrete and asphalt. This material is then recycled and used in a variety of ways, such as for temporary access roads or rural driveways. This machine has a magnetic belt, which enables us to easily separate rebar from concrete waste, allowing us to recycle that material separately. We are capable of handling 1,800 to 2,000 tons of site debris per day. We believe this service not only adds value for our clients but also helps us keep South Carolina beautiful.
